The Medical Affairs representative will have primary responsibility for leading the Medical Affairs activity for commercial CardioDx tests.
This person will provide medical expertise and leadership to fulfill the needs and core job functions of Medical Affairs within the CardioDx organization. She/he will serve as a primary interface between the Clinical, Sales, and Customer Service Departments to ensure timely, high-quality medical communication and education about the gene expression test for coronary artery disease. They will be first-in-line to field medically related questions about this test from physician customers and CardioDx Sales Territory Managers and to develop supporting collateral materials for ongoing use. A strong clinical cardiology experience and working knowledge of genetics/genomics is ideal.
The position will require frequent travel to customer sites to provide consultation and education relevant to the use and understanding of the test results from the medical/clinical perspective. He/she will also contribute clinical perspective to the planning and execution of post-market evaluation studies.
The successful candidate will ultimately manage the organizational planning and operational needs of the Medical Affairs organization and be an integral member of the Clinical Management Team. This position will also work closely with the Vice President of Sales and Vice President of Market Development.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Superb communication skills; oral and written, along with proven ability to build relationships with physicians to facilitate test adoption.
- Strong understanding or experience in post-launch marketing, post-approval studies, and GCP.
- The ability to determine the potential impact of genomic research on medical thinking and practice, and have the ability to use scientific and clinical data to formulate new conceptual frameworks and patient care approaches while showing a clear passion for helping physicians address unmet medical needs.
- Demonstrated decisive and proactive approach, a hands-on style and attitude and the ability to organize and prioritize.

Requirements
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide medical leadership working closely with the Sales Territory Managers and Customer Service organization to provide streamlined, effective, reputable responses and education to physician customers. This includes significant travel for in-person communication.
- Provide appropriate support for the physician, nurse, and health center infrastructure that provides care for patients with chest pain throughout the US to understand the potential use and encourage adoption of CardioDx tests.
- Serve as core member of the Clinical Management Team to ensure that all medical affairs activities and initiatives are aligned with those of the clinical and commercial organizations in a way that achieves our collective goals and respects/ maintains compliance with corporate policies and regulatory requirements.
- Help develop and implement post-market evaluations and facilitate other post-market studies.
- Ensure there is appropriate medical input and review to support relevant clinical development, business development, market research, marketing and corporate communication, and sales/marketing promotional material/activities
Basic Qualifications:
MD with at least 5 years of experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry in medical affairs including development of medical education programs for sales force and physician customers. Or Advanced Degree in Life Sciences and relevant experieince. Ability to travel frequently (Up to 50% initially).
Preferred Qualifications:
Cardiologist with previous direct Medical Affairs leadership experience strongly preferred. Background in one of the following medical specialties is a plus, though other specialties will be considered: internal medicine, pulmonology, emergency medicine, intensive care, or hematology. Working knowledge or training in the areas of genetics, molecular biology, cardiology testing, and health economics/policy would be strongly desired.
Senior Product Manager
Responsibilities
The Senior Product Manager will play a critical role in marketing the company’s first commercialized product and in developing and launching future products. The Senior Product Manager will work closely with a dynamic, cross-functional team to optimally manage his/her product line, and to maximize sales and profitability as consistent with the company’s short and long-term goals. Primary responsibilities include the following:
- Develop and execute product launch and marketing plans within the product line, including product positioning, pricing, lifecycle maintenance, forecasts and marketing campaigns.
- Work intimately with cross-functional team members on product specifications, project planning, and product development and marketing initiatives.
- Foster working relationships with leading physicians, key opinion leaders and other appropriate stakeholders to ensure that the company’s products meet customer needs and to drive product adoption
- Support the sales team and customers on a daily basis as the product expert for his/her product line.
- Play a lead role in creating internal and external communications, presentations, educational and promotional materials.
- Support conferences, meetings, exhibits, and customer visits.
- Work to ensure ongoing business success of products (assign deliverables, drive core team decisions, resolve conflicts, make product tradeoff decisions, remove barriers to progress).
- Contribute to and leverage company market research and competitive analysis to optimize product line strategies.
Qualifications
CardioDx seeks to recruit a motivated team member with significant industry experience, drive, and enthusiasm. The candidate will have a track record in analyzing the complexities of the healthcare system and be excited by the opportunities presented by molecular diagnostics. He/she will have experience designing and implementing product launch plans, and will drive overall product management throughout the product lifecycle. Familiarity with regulatory and reimbursement issues is important, as is being able to understand trends within the pharmaceutical and medical device industries. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential and the highest level of integrity is required. More specifically, the ideal candidate:
- Has an undergraduate degree in business, science, or engineering, and an MBA.
- Has a minimum of 5 years of marketing and product management experience, with at least half of that time spent in healthcare-related fields.
- Has a solid track record in engaging customers and managing day-to-day relationships with the salesforce and other external business partners.

Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CA CLS License)
The candidate will have the opportunity to work in a service-oriented lab in a new facility with state of the art equipment.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
The ideal candidate must be a licensed Clinical Laboratory Scientist in the state of California. The candidate would:
- Work in the CLIA lab running gene expression assays which includes reviewing, interpreting, and reporting patient results
- Have excellent focus and attention to detail with good documentation skills
- Have excellent laboratory techniques

Medical Billing/Reimbursement Operations Supervisor
General Description of Position
The Medical Billing Supervisor oversees medical insurance claims submission, claims processing and appeals for a clinical laboratory. The individual will lead a team of 3+ full time staff members as well as oversee a third party medical billing vendor. This position is responsible for the timely and accurate medical billing of laboratory services, the oversight of appeals management processes to overturn denied claims and gain payment for laboratory services rendered to patients, the oversight of patient financial assistance programs and other reimbursement operations/revenue cycle management processes. Position includes supervision of appeals specialists, billers, and patient advocates; coordinating with an external billing vendor to ensure integration of claims data with the internal appeals management process and working with the Director of Reimbursement to provide oversight of billing and appeals operating procedures and reporting.
Essential Functions:
- Supervise the reimbursement operations function at CardioDx, including health insurance claims submission, health insurance appeals of denied claims, and patient financial assistance programs.
- Ensure team compliance with internal processes including billing, appeals management, customer service/patient advocacy, patient financial assistance programs, lockbox management etc.
- Provide leadership and direction to the reimbursement operations staff including training, development and performance management for all staff within the department.
- Ensure that all requisite department reports are prepared; reviews all reports to assess key business information that may require action; troubleshoot appeals issues; track appeals team’s progress against timely appeals filing objectives.
- Communicate with sales team on physician or patient customer service issues
The position reports to the Director of Reimbursement.
Work Experience Requirements:
- 3-5 years experience in medical billing, revenue cycle operations or appeals management within a hospital or clinical laboratory environment.
- Working knowledge of medical billing principles, laws, and regulations and of HIPAA requirements pertaining to revenue cycle management and reimbursement operations
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are critical to the position
- Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience in a corporate healthcare setting
- Ability to manage team of diverse skills and experience in a fast paced, innovative environment
- Creativity and flexibility to facilitate development of reimbursement operations processes for novel diagnostic tests
Education Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in business administration, health information management, financial accounting or other equivalent degree or equivalent experience required
Medical Appeals Specialist
General Description of Position:
Work Experience Requirements:
- Must have two or more years of direct medical claim appeals experience for laboratory or hospital claims or two or more years of medical claims reviewing or provider dispute resolution experience in a commercial health insurance company.
- Proficiency in healthcare insurance reimbursement including benefit investigations, appeals, Medicare re-determination and reconsideration requests, and other provider dispute resolution actions.
- Must have strong writing skills and excellent organizational ability.
- Strong customer service/patient service skills and physician relationship skills along with the ability to do multiple tasks are keys to success in this position.
- Effective problem solving skills, an attention to detail and strong verbal skills are also important.
- Clinical knowledge is preferable but not essential to position
The position reports into the Reimbursement Operations Department.
Education Requirements
- Associates degree required.

Job Location:
The Appeals Specialist can be located in-house at the CardioDx offices in Palo Alto, CA or, if residing outside of California, the employee can work from home, however, travel to Palo Alto will be required.
