Overview of Sample Collection and Shipping Process
We have made it simple and convenient to collect and ship the Corus CAD sample to the CLIA-licensed CardioDx Commercial Laboratory (CCL). Our custom made Corus CAD Patient Sample Kit is an innovative system that provides:
- Sample collection supplies, sample shipper and self-contained cooling container all in one convenient system
- PAXgene®-based sample collection that eliminates sample processing at the clinic
- On demand, self-contained NanoCool® Cooling System replaces the need for dry ice or ice packs for patient sample shipment
If you are a managing physician in the U.S. and would like to order Corus CAD for your patient, here is a brief summary of the steps you will need to take.
- Complete the Corus CAD Test Requisition Form. Click here to download a sample Corus CAD TRF (pdf)

Corus CAD is only available in the United States at this time.
How will I be notified about the results of the Corus CAD test?
The results of the Corus CAD test will be delivered promptly to the ordering physician and/or other authorized healthcare providers via fax to the number designated on the Corus CAD Test Requisition Form.
How is the result of the Corus CAD test generated?
Corus CAD is processed at the CardioDx Commercial Laboratory (CCL), conforming to CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments) regulations. Automated laboratory processes using robotics and multiple real-time quality controls are used to ensure reliable and reproducible results.
The test procedure starts with a blood sample collected in a PAXgene® Blood RNA tube. RNA is purified, and the amount of RNA extracted from each sample is measured to determine the RNA concentration. Reverse transcription is performed to convert the RNA in the sample to cDNA. The cDNA generated from the sample is added to a 384-well reaction plate.
Expression of the 23 target genes is analyzed using qRT-PCR, a proven technique that is sensitive, specific, and highly reproducible.
Finally, the expression value for each of the targeted genes is measured, checked against quality standards, and automatically uploaded to the Corus CAD algorithm software. A patient report is then generated and sent to the ordering clinician promptly via fax.
