Corus CAD Overview

How was the Corus™ CAD test developed?

Corus CAD is the only test of its kind and was developed through a rigorous scientific approach that involved three main steps:

Gene discovery – CardioDx used advanced technologies to sort through tens of thousands of genes in over 900 patients and found signals from hundreds of genes that were linked to the presence of obstructive* coronary artery disease (CAD).

Test Development – From the hundreds of genes identified in the Gene Discovery step, scientists at CardioDx studied more than 100 of the best genes in over 600 new patients using highly sensitive and quantitative methods. Using these data, the team developed Corus CAD incorporating the 23 genes that best indicate the likelihood of obstructive CAD.

Test Validation – To prove the performance of Corus CAD, the test was validated in samples from a new group of 526 patients. These results, based on the 23 genes, show that Corus CAD is a robust and reliable test that delivers unique and objective information about your chest pain based on your own biology.

* Obstructive CAD is defined as at least one atherosclerotic plaque causing ≥50% luminal diameter stenosis in a major coronary artery (≥1.5 mm lumen diameter) as determined by invasive quantitative coronary angiography (QCA).
